Drexler Motorsport Team

The company's considerable experience with producing performance driveline parts can be attributed to its close ties with professional level motorsport. Before establishing Drexler Motorsport in 1998 founder Herbert Drexler was an accomplished racer in DTM, FIA GT and ADAC GT Cup racing. A well known figure in the German motorsport scene, when not running the company Herbert can be found liaising with customers at the race track.

Rainer Drexler, technical director of Drexler Motorsport has throughout his career worked on many high level motorsport projects. From BMW touring cars in Super Touring, ETCC, WTCC, to the American Le Mans series, European Formula 3 racing and engineering  winners at the grueling Nürburgring 24 hour race. Rainer has been instrumental in setting up and developing a range of winning race cars all around the world.

Complementing this depth of knowledge is Drexler Motorsport's team of engineers and technicians who utilise years of experience gained from all levels of motorsport. These include Formula SAE, Rally, Touring cars, Truck, Hill climb, GT, Sports cars, various open wheel classes and even Formula 1. 

During the 1980s Herbert & Rainer modified and re-developed existing limited slip differentials for use in their own race cars. They both however in time came to the conclusion that a product of their own design and manufacture could perform better. Work straight away started on developing their own limited slip differential.

In 1986 the first run of 50 Drexler Motorsport limited slip differentials were made and delivered to the Wolf Racing Team for use in their Ford Sierra Cosworth touring cars. One year later Ford Motorsport won the manufacturers title in the World Touring Car Championship (Texaco Ford Sierra Cosworth) with differential parts developed by Drexler Motorsport.

This initial success paved the way for the development of more limited slip differentials and saw the establishment of Drexler Motorsport in 1998, following the conclusion of Herbert's motorsport career. Since the company's inception all areas of the operation have been expanded upon numerous times. More recently Drexler Motorsport has also moved into the development and manufacturer of motorsport transmissions.
